Study on measures to avoid genocide in the future
Introduction
The Cambodian genocide is one of the most influential even for humans in the world. It was one of the crucial massacres in the history of mankind during the Khmer Rouge reign in Cambodia. Until now, there are different estimations about the death toll for Cambodian genocide. Some people estimate the figure will range from 400,000 to 3 million. While, most people think that there has been 1 million people died during the massacre. As a small country with only 7 million to 8 million people at that time, even 1 million is an unimaginable death figure which is far more than the people killed when a new regime is established. So this history is called auto genocide by a Jean Lacouture, a French scholar.

The Cambodian genocide originated from the coup, the civil war and the large-scale bombardment by the US during the Khmer Rouge reign in Cambodia from the year of 1975 to 1978. Among the death, there were at least one seventh local people died due to the American political and military intervention. Though the international community has called for the international court judge for the Khmer rouge when it had collapsed, people still left it unsettled because the US refused to do it for its crime of killing 1 to 2 million Cambodians (Amer, 2006). It does not mean that we should not remember this historical even and do nothing in the future. This essay will discuss how to avoid the genocide in the future from the aspect of education and risk evaluation. Finally, it will explain how the country’s culture recovers from genocide.

Education for the descendants to learn about genocide
As many historians has suggested, people should learn about the lessons of the holocaust and other genocides. Teachers should educate students in the history class and the international community should organize more education activities to promote the concept of maintaining a peaceful world. When the international community hears news of these kinds of events, they should do their best to stop the war and genocide by coordinating the relationship among nations.

As for the education for the descendants to learn about genocide, people in the contemporary era should know about the human cruelty and violence as well as how to guard against these cruel actions. Some class can be specially designed for high school students to teach them civic values and sympathy. More detailed information about genocides should be shown to students and citizens.

Make estimations about the cruel genocides
It is no doubt that we are living in a world with dangerous and self-destruction. With advanced technology, we may be killed by ecological disasters and incurable disease epidemic due to the human intervention in natural. However, technology can help us to make estimations about these dangerous factors and do its best to avoid disasters or genocides. In the US, social scientists have developed models of the sociology and politics. These models have based on a large number of variables so they will make a feasible risk assessment for the development of genocide (Bennett, 1971).

Now it is said that human beings can identify places that is possible to have a massacre if there are no measures. They can be accurately predicted in three to six months. These threats are very dangerous and can be a massive destruction of human life, so scholars and researchers should pay more attention to do the risk assessment work and try to avoid these cruel and ferocious genocides. Nowadays in the US, the British government and the United Nations, such forecasting methods are available.

Genocides will do great harm to the nation’s culture. How to recover the culture for survivors of the genocide?

The country’s culture will be greatly destroyed during the genocides. If the nation’s culture is completely eradicated, it will depend on others forever. So it will be a shame and misery for survivors of the genocide (Panh, 2004). To recover their culture, they should insist on their own education for their descendants. They should fit into other nations but also maintain their own group and culture at the same time.

Conclusion
In conclusion, genocides are great threats for human and historical development. As people living in the contemporary era, we should pay attention to the education and estimation for genocides so as to avoid genocides in the future. For nations who are nearly to lost their own culture during genocides, they should do make the best effort to keep their own education and culture for their children.
