Nature of work changing

Nature of work changing
For most of people, there is no choice but to work for others rather than self-employed. However, it really changed a lot as to your work life compared to 40 years ago. From a paper, In today's world, the structure, content, and process of work have changed. Work is now: more cognitively complex, more team-based and collaborative, more dependent on social skills, more dependent on technological competence, more time pressured, more mobile and less dependent on geography. For example, individuals in the workforce have somewhat different valus and expectations about their work and the relationship between colleagues has changed a lot.
Therefore, why the nature of work has changed? I conclude from several papers: Key organizational changes include:(1)Reduced hierarchical structure(2)Blurred boundaries(3)Teams as basic building blocks (4)New management perspective (5)Continuous change(5)work stress(6)trends of job demands by race, age, gender, education and demographic trends. What’s more, new directions in labour economics; social and psychological dimensions of work and unemployment; globalization and labour; new technologies and organizational change; flexibility and internal labour markets; new patterns of industrial relations; family, gender, paid and unpaid work; and difference and diversity in the workplace.
In today’s work, cooperation is very common which also means employees need to confront with conflicts and improve their negotiation skills. What’s more, with information and technology develops, learning is fundamental to sustain your competitiveness. Not only do workers need to keep their technology skills up to date, they need to be continuous learners in their knowledge fields and to also be more conversant with business strategy. Time to read and attend training classes is no longer a perquisite of only a few, it is essential for all workers. The competition is very fierce and almost from 18 to 50 all need to look for their job because you can be fired at any time. The work is connected, and it is not easy to survive facing the competition with all the world. Collaboration and relationship development also take time and effort.
When it comes to nature of work changing ,we all feel it really has changed, but ,however, how word is changing for individuals and groups? The changes fall into the following domains: Cognitive competence /Social and interactive competence/The new "psychological contract" between employees and employers/Changes in process and place.
Although these domains are discussed separately, they overlap. We briefly discuss the overlaps, where they exist, and point to the benefits and concerns the new work patterns present for workers and managers.
Work may change a lot compared to the past, but the environment you face and the ability employee have also changed.
